As 4A exhales, 5A has some adjustments to make. Broomfield has made the move up. The Eagles wasted little time making a serious impact in 5A cross country. Now, it's 5A track and field's turn to deal with the Broomfield menace.

Like all Broomfield teams of the recent past, this team figures to be multi-faceted, including strong elements of both sprints and distance.

Jordan Xiong, though only a junior this year, is already firmly established as one of the best sprinters in the state. He will carry the load at 100 and 200 meters, and likely figure on a relay or two as well.

Jake Mitchem emerged last spring as a solid miler. You have to figure that, on the heels of a spectacular cross country season, his 1600 is only getting better. And, the 800 may begin reaching into the kind of territory where points at the state meet are possible.
