Like a lot of other teams we've looked at thus far, Rampart tends to be stronger in the field events than the track events. In Rampart's case, that strength comes especially in the throws and in the high jump.
In the throws, it's an impressive trio of August Raskie, Danielle Flynn, and Amanda Cushen. Raskie returns from competing at state in both events last spring. Cushen also threw at state in the shot put. Flynn is nicely positioned to make state this year with a little progress off of last year's marks. It's kind of a big deal to boast three state-worthy throwers in a 5A program, and Rampart has exactly that.
But, when we move over to the high jump, we find that Rampart's throwers really don't have much on their high jumpers. Ashlyn Hare was third at state (though with a big 5-8 jump) and Kiara Kearney sixth last spring. Hare ranks as the top returning jumper, while Kearney's jump has only...
