Somebody formerly famous once recorded a song about "Girls Just Want to Have Fun." She should have been at Saturday's Longmont Invitational. The girls there were having plenty of fun. Of course, Saturday's fun involved perspiration, and I'm not exactly sure that's what the vocalist in question had in mind.

Poudre's Allysa Warling got the show on the road with a big come-from-behind win in the morning's invitational 3200. It won't go without note here that this was Warling's first win of her high school career. Whether or not that thought helped to propel her down the finish straight, she simply had more left in her legs than the other contenders at 3100 meters.

Teammate Linnea Rosman, who has a little more previous experience with event titles than Warling, prevailed in the 100 hurdles, not long after Warling's win, with a 15.33.
