Note that this report will include only athletes in the 13-14 age group and up. I will try to glean all of those, but if I miss any, please let me know and I will update.
Wednesday Report
We are picking up in the middle of things here. Competition (mostly multis) began on Monday, but there has been only a small amount in the way of Colorado results to pore over thus far. Here's what we have:
Alex Hellenberg finishes 19th in the 17-18 heptathlon with 3581 points. Hellenberg's big point event was the 100 hurdles, where she picked up 640 points. That competition completed on Tuesday.
In today's action (so far), Walker Council finished 11th in the 13-14 triple jump with a mark of 37-4.
Aaron McCoy finished 5th in the prelims of the 17-18 boys 400 hurdles and advances to semis. He had a time of 55.07.
Julyah Wilson also advanced to semis in the 15-16 girls 400 meter hurdles prelims, finishing 11th with a time of 1:07.13. And, remarkably, Sarah Yocum took first in the 17-18 girls 400 meter hurdles prelims. Yocum posted a time of 1:01.30.
In the 13-14 girls 200 meter hurdles, Jahzara Davis advanced to semis with a time of 29.44. Samantha Gordon missed making semis with a 30.26.
Emilia Puskas missed advancing in the 13-14 800 with a time of 2:28.96.
Kyle Gee ran 2:00.53 in the 17-18 800 and missed making finals with that time.
Mia Manson was the first finisher not to make semis in the 13-14 200, running a wind-legal 26.04 for 25th in prelims. Kameryn Brown, at 26.70, was a little further out of making semis.
Nik Chappee's 22.29 in the 17-18 200 prelims was about 10 places out of advancing to semis.
Jequan Hogan snared a fifth in the 15-16 triple jump with a mark of 44-9.5 (-1.2).
Elena Opp throw 29-8 in the 15-16 shot put. And Sierra Suazo took a ninth in the 17-18 shot put with a heave of 39-8.75, two feet and one inch ahead of Gina Coleman in 18th.
Thursday Report
Emilia Puskas ran 4:56.17 for 20th in prelims of the 13-14 1500. That did not advance her to finals. Mason Brown had a big race in the prelims of the 15-16 boys 1500, posting the top time at 4:08.32. Jordan McCurdy just missed finals in the 17-18 girls 1500 with a 4:56.12.
Jequan Hogan advanced to semis in the 15-16 boys 110 hurdles with a wind-legal 15.60. Zaire Jackson and Luke Brannen missed semis with a 16.00 and 16.47, respectively.
Samantha Gordon missed semis of the 13-14 girls 100 hurdles with a 16.53. Sarah Yocum and Alexis Buckhaults ran 7th and 8th in prelims of th3 17-18 girls 100 hurdles at 14.93 and 14.94, respectively and both wind legal. Those marks advance both to semis.
For a second consecutive day, Mia Manson just missed advancing to the next round, this time with a 12.76 in the 13-14 girls 100. Will Domier ran a wind-legal 10.92 in the 17-18 boys 100 to miss semis by three places.
Jacob Barsness finished 10th in the 15-16 boys 2000 steeple with a 6:54.43.
Aumni Ashby finished 29th in the 17-18 long jump with a wind legal 16-9.25.
Andy Kline threw 143-8 for 27th in the 17-18 boys discus.
Madyson Johnstone went 9-0.25 in the 15-16 pole vault for 22nd.
Zaire Jackson's wind legal 19-8.25 earned him 19th in the 15-16 boys long jump.
Sierra Suazo and Gina Coleman got 10th and 15th, respectively, in the 17-18 girls discus with throws of 128-3 and 123-3.
Henry Carlson got 20th in the 15-16 boys shot put with a mark of 39-9.25,
Friday Report
Mason Brown finished second in the 15-16 boys 3000, posting an 8:56.41. Chase Dornbusch scored a ninth in the 17-18 version of the event with a 9:15.50.
Simone Watkins advanced to semis of the 15-16 girls 400 with a time of 56.99. Tyrese Vanhorne and Tyler Waters bowed out of 15-16 boys 400 competition with a 52.50 and 53.12, respectively. Nik Chappee's 48.50 and Sunday Abarca's 49.39 kept them alive into semis of the 17-18 boys 400.
Jequan Hogan ran 15.43 in the semis of the 15-16 boys 110 hurdles but did not advance to finals. Sarah Yocum and Alexis Buckhaults were bounced from semis of the 17-18 girls 100 hurdles with times of 14,84 and14.85. Those times put them in 12th and 13th.
Aumni Ashby finished 12th in the 17-18 girls triple jump with a mark of 37-9.25, while Alex Hellenberg managed a 27th with a mark of 35-7.25. Both marks were wind legal.
In the 15-16 boys high jump, Jequan Hogan went 6-0.75 for eighth.
Elena Opp threw 102-4 for 26th in the 15-16 girls discus.
Andrea and Erika Willis went fifth ans seventh in the 17-18 girls pole vault, both topping out at 11-11.75.
Tyler Nelson scored a third in the 15-16 boys discus at 150-0.
Saturday Report
Simone Watkins bowed out in the 400 semis with a time of 57.82. Nik Chappee's 48.37 also came up short of making finals, as did Sunday Abarca's 48.95.
Aaron McCoy contined on to finals of the 17-18 boys 300 hurdles with a 53.25. Julyah Wilson missed the 15-16 finals with a 1:06.38. Sarah Yocum's 1:02.12 made the cut for finals in 17-18 girls.
Jahzara Davis missed finals in the 13-14 200 hurdles with a 31.20.
Max Manson won the 15-16 pole vault on misses at 14-7.25.Sister Mia got fifth in the 13-14 high jump at 5-3.
Sarah Sams finished 22nd in the 13-14 girls discus at 92-9. Amanda Opp earned 26th spot with an 85-4.
Sunday Report (Final Day)
Aaron McCoy's time of 56.18 in finals of the 400 meter hurdles did not come close to his semis time, but it was good enough for 7th place. On the other hand, Sarah Yocum did improve slightly on her semis time with a 1:02.07 to finish fifth.
Mason Brown finished tenth in the 15-16 1500 with a time of 4:16.49.
Amanda Opp took 13th in the 13-14 girls shot with a heave of 38-7. I believe they use a 3kg shot at that level.
