It's a relatively small field at 5A teams pointed at Friday's Cheyenne Mountain Stampede--16 in all. Still, there are some teams coming that we can expect to be fairly competitive this fall. 

Girls

We'll start with an analysis of the girls race this time.

Coronado easily checks in as the pre-meet favorite. And the Cougars should be very familiar with at least most of the course, since Coronado is the second-closest high school to the meet location. Rocky Mountain may have a distant hope of reeling the Cougars in. It's a longshot, though, and I really don't see Coronado as being in a mood to let this one slip through their fingers.

Potentially much more interesting is the individual race. Each of Allison Mann, Stephanie Carrasco, Julia Schlepp, and Luna Slater has a real shot here. Mann was the most improved from cross country to track season and may take the insid...
