2017 Centennial League: Day One Dazzlers

Upset of the Day

Eaglecrest's Mason Brown has demonstrated a lot of potential since his freshman year, but the results haven't always matched that potential, at least partly due to injury. That might be changing. In the 3200 Brown tucked in behind CT's pre-race favorite Rylan Wallace and Smoky Hill's front-running Jemil Kassahun for the first mile before he and Wallace dropped Kassahun on lap six. Brown then tracked Wallace until the final 200 before ultimately sprinting by with a 17 second PR of 9:39.92 to Wallace's 9:41.26. Undoubtedly, many in the top-18 for the boys 3200 will be surprised to see Brown pip them on the list...then again, knowing his potential, maybe not.
