Bean Minor is a big part of the face of the future for the Salida Boys program.
This one wraps up the best young team series. And today we look at 3A Boys. The idea is simple. Score a virtual meet of 3A Boys teams using just freshmen and sophomores.
Differences in courses run still have an impact in virtual meet standings, but those differences are getting smaller as the season goes deeper. A virtual meet, of course, doesn't take into account what will happen into the future, but it's still a rather telling look ahead.
Last year, Salida brought in an enormous class of freshman boys--and especially enormous given that Salida is a very small 3A school. Well, last year's freshmen are this year's sophomores, and we're starting to see the development of that team into a powerful force under the tutelage of Kenny Wilcox. They look a lot like the team of the future for 3A Boys right now.
Alamosa seems to be always present in the hunt as well.
