Like a lot of other places up and down Colorado's Front Range, it was unseasonably warm at Fountain-Fort Carson High School on Thursday. Afternoon temperatures were pushing 80F as garter snakes sunned themselves on exposed portions of trail under the blaze of an autumn sun. Adding insult to injury, the grass was long, the trail soft, the barometer low, and the wind high.
In short, probably nobody in the entire race set a PR, but more than a few learned a bit about racing. That's what happens when running for time slams the door in your face.

Note to all CSML Coaches: If you would like to send in names and times for your JV race results, I will compile those and post them to Colorado Track XC. Thank you!
