Q) Talk about the recruitment process - what other schools were you looking at, and how did you come to choosing Stanford?

My decision came down between Stanford and Washington, but it really came down to Stanford being a better fit and offering the academic culture I was looking for.

Q) What do you plan to study at Stanford?

I'm thinking of studying bioengineering or something along those lines with a focus in renewable energy.

Q) What event do you see yourself focusing on at Stanford?

Eventually I see myself focusing on the 5k, but I'll most likely start out doing the 1500 and 3k (whenever it's available).

Q) The first race we have on your MileSplit account is an 8:28, cross country 2,400 victory at the St. Mary's Academy Invite in 2015 - what do you remember from this race? (Can you share your experience?)

Haha, I really don't remember a lot of this race, but I remember being kind of surprised that I actually won. That was my first ever cross country type race so I really didn't know what to expect, but I'm definitely glad I've stuck with it since.

Q) You've had success in everything from the 800 on up to the 5k, what would you say is your favorite event, and why?

I would say the 2 mile is my favorite event. I see it as a balance between the mile and 5k where it's still what I would consider a fast race, but at the same time you're able to settle in and gather yourself, so to speak, before you start to kick.

Q) You've had many big races, what race do you covet the most so far?

My favorite race to this point is probably this last Brooks PR. It was a cool experience winning such a competitive meet, and I like the overall vibe of the race in general.

Q) What got you interested in running in the first place?

It was eighth-grade year when I first started running cross country and track somewhat seriously, and I just loved the purity of the sport. It was just your fitness/mental strength against someone else's and I found that fun.

Q) Could you share any goals you have for your senior year?

For what's left of cross, my big goal would to go after the Nike Cross Nationals title. For track I definitely want to try after a sub-4 attempt, and besides that PR in the rest of my events and compete well at the national level.

Q) What would your favorite high school moment be?

My favorite high school moment would either be the experience of running at NXN or running on the original Hayward Field during the Oregon Relays sophomore year.
