It's Monday February the 10th and Colorado has two of the top-five long jumpers in the country, the No. 2 pole vaulter in the country, and a few inches of snow melting away - at least until another storm rolls through, proving that January was just a tease.
It was another big week of performances. In the true spirit of competition, it's as if every week is just vamping up for the week to come.
We've got to start with that girl's long jump competition down at the Great Southwest Classic Indoor Invitational in Albuquerque, NM.
Not only was it a Colorado 1-2 punch, but when the sand had settled, Colorado had the No. 4 and No. 5 long jumpers in the country.
Teagan Zwaanstra has been hinting at something big for weeks now, and she finally had her day - or weekend - in the Land of Enchantment.
The ThunderRidge junior leapt to a 19-7, US No. 4 in the long jump - that's an indoor personal best of six-inches, and it's thee inches beyond her outdoor PR.
Sadie McMullen was just a quarter of an inch back - a quarter of the inch - with a new indoor PR of 19-6.75.
With Zwaanstra and McMullen clearly inching upwards, the question eventually turns to: Will a Colorado long jumper surpass that coveted 20-foot mark in the coming months?
A year ago Zwaanstra went 19-1 indoors before going 19-4 outdoors. McMullen went 18-10.75 indoors in 2019 before going 19-9.5 outdoors.
Time will tell.
While Zwaanstra and McMullen took the long jump competition into the inches, Camille Peisner had a big weekend of her own.
The Valor Christian junior ran the fastest quarter mile by a Coloradan so far this season, dropping a 55.95 FTW at Great Southwest. Peisner also ran 24.80 in the 200.
Another big performance came from Rece Rowan, who has definitely made The Jump in the shot put. The Pine Creek senior already surpassed his outdoor best, tossing the shot put 57-9.75 to the win event.
Sydney Holiday continued her streak of big-time performances. Fresh off her 7.46 60 victory last week at Air Force, she ran 7.52 for a runner-up finish here.
Meanwhile, Zwaanstra doubled back from her big long jump victory to run a PR of 7.58 in the event.
Like Rowan, Luke Tichi clearly made The Jump this winter. The Durango senior won the mile in 4:27 - just four seconds off his outdoor best in the event.

Earlier in the week Taylor James proved that she's already rapidly finding her (giant, and powerful) stride - a frightening, but exciting thought.
The Niwot junior dropped a 2:11.59 800 at the Reykjavík International Games in Iceland - that's a US No. 11.
To put the performance in perspective - a year ago she ran 2:18 indoors before going on to run 2:05 outdoors.
She's already dropped a 2:11...
Cole Sprout got the invite to Iceland as well. The Valor Christian senior opened up his 2020 track season with with a 3:54 1,500.
A few days later pole vaulter Mia Manson set the bar for the weekend of competitions.
The Monarch senior went big in the finale of the Mines HS Indoor Series. Manson upped the bar to 13-7 for a new PR, and a US No. 2.
