Three Predictions For The Season Ahead: 5A

Holiday Threatens Minor's (And Smith's) 100 State Record

There's no disputing Arria Minor's reign as the Sprint Queen of Colorado. She owns state records in the 100, 200, and 400 - that's more than any other athlete with a state record.

A year ago Sydney Holiday had a closer view than anyone of Minor's back, but this indoor season Holiday has run herself onto a whole new level.

During the 2020 indoor season Holiday ran under 7.50 in the 60 twice - topping out at 7.46.

By comparison, Minor ran 7.44 and 7.50 in her senior indoor season before going on to run 11.31 outdoors at the state meet.

Last year Holiday ran 7.62 indoors before going on to run 11.58 in the 100 at the USATF U20 Championships (and doubled back to run 11.59 in the finals.)

Heading into the outdoor season she's already .16 ahead of where she was last year in the 60.

Add another 40 meters worth of improvement and that number looks like it could climb well over two-tenths of a second ahead of last year, landing her somewhere under 11.40.
