You could say 2021 is the Year Of State Records, because it sure has felt that way over the past six weeks. For the second time over the past few days a Colorado all-classification state record fell.
Riley Stewart ran herself into history at the Stutler Twilight Saturday night in Greenwood Village.
The Cherry junior broke Katie Rainsberger's five year-old Colorado 1,600 state record of 4:44.31. Stewart took just under two-tenths-of-a-second off the previous record, clocking 4:44:13.
Currently her time is a US No. 12, before any altitude conversions. And as impressive as her performance was, add that it was officially a personal best - at any altitude.
