Future Stars: Meet Daniel Hruska

In this week's edition of Future Stars, we'll take a look a few sophomores who are making waves...

Cherry Creek sophomore Daniel Hruska is currently the No. 1 distance runner in the class. He recently popped a 9:44 at the Broomfield Shootout, which currently leads the class by one-second over Brady Hill, who finished a stride back in 9:45. Both are ranked in the Top-15 in the state among all grades. Additionally Hruska has run 4:30 in the 1,600, which ranks him No. 4 in all grades and classifications.

In the sprints Joe Ciccio is making big gains. The Lutheran sophomore has run 10.88 in the 100, which leads the class, and ranks him No. 4 in the state.

For the girls Cydnee Taylor isn't exactly a Rising Star - she's sort of already there. The 2021 runner-up in the 100 has run 12.87 this season, and 26.61 so far. She's already way ahead of where she was at the start of the 2021 season.

Jaycee Williams has already come off the starting line quick this season. The Berthoud sophomore has been running personal bests every week. She currently leads the class in the 800 and the 1,600, with a 2:14.56 in the 8, and 5:06.27 in the 16.

Quick Glance:

Eboselulu Omofoma cleared 5-4 in the high jump at the Grizzly Invitational - that leads the sophomore class, and 2A.

Anna Willis hardly qualifies as a Rising Star since she's already got a state-title under her belt, though you'll definitely want to keep an eye on her - she cleared 13-0 at the Broomfield Shootout for a state-leading mark.

Luguse Nuss is literally leaping to new distances. The Florence sophomore leapt to a PR of 21-7 long jump several weeks ago. The mark is currently the No. 3 mark in 3A.
