Future Stars: Meet Dane Eike

In this week's edition of Future Stars, we'll take a look at recent sophomore performances...

On that note, Colorado: Meet Dane Eike.

Eike actually turned heads a month ago at the Texas Distance Festival, but that was before we launched this new series. The Valor Christian popped a jaw-dropping 14:55.5 5,000 on the track - that's one of the fastest 5,000s by a sophomore ever.

More recently Eike ran a sophomore class lead of 4:27 in the 1,600 at the 24th Mullen Invitational. Additionally he's run 4:22 in the event - at lower elevations. What's all the more impressive is how much he's improved since his freshmen year - he ran 4:44 in the 1,600, and never broke 17 minutes in the 5k.

Quick Glance

Maddux Stahl - Wind-aided or not, Stahl definitely made a jump. The Legend sophomore ran class-leads of 11:11 in the 100, and 22.26 in the 200 at the Legend Titan Clash this past weekend.

Isaac Branch - Who runs a personal best in their first attempt of the season? This guy! The Valor sophomore ran 51.28 in the 400 at Mullen - that's nearly a second-and-a-half faster than his PR from last year.

Lavelle Kabeya-Kombo - We've got a new hurdler star on the rise... The Legend sophomore ran class-leads of 15.87 in the 110H and 40.62 in the 300H at the Legend Titan Clash.

Brendon Bourke - A foot PR - no problem. The Cherry Creek sophomore leapt to 42-0.5 in the triple jump for a class-lead, and a new PR by a foot.

Cydnee Taylor - The Rampart sophomore currently reigns over the sprints in the sophomore class. Taylor ran class-leads of 12.59 in the 100, and 26.41 at the Legend Titan Clash.

Jessica Derickson - Someone in finding their stride... The Mountain Vista sophomore sliced four-seconds off her previous season-best in the 800, clocking a class-lead of 2:20.91.

Hanan Aldelemy - Speaking of finding their stride... The Dakota Ridge sophomore torched her previous 1,600 by 10-seconds this past weekend. Aledelmy ran 5:10 at the Littleton city Championships.

Gabriella Cunningham - A week ago the Grandview sophomore was a mid-to-low 15ish 100 hurdler. Now she's a sub-15 hurdler - Cunningham blazed a 14.69 100H at the Legend Titan Clash - that's an All Classification No. 3.

Charlotte Elliston - In the span of a couple of weeks the Fairview sophomore added six-inches to her long jump. Elliston leapt to a class-lead of 17-7.5 at the Hawk Invitational.

Mary Ella Brooks - The Ralston Valley sophomore is on a PR train. Early last week Brooks tossed 35-0 in the shot put for a class-lead.
