Thundering To Victory At The D'Evelyn Dash

With a mile to go it was clear someone from Peyton would win.

The only question was who.

Nathan Schluessler led teammate Josh Kearse by a few strides, but Kearse used the undulating terrain over the final mile to turn the tables.

In what had become a team-race, Kearse caught Schluessler with nearly half-a-mile to go, and stretched his lead to a few seconds.

The Peyton senior crossed the finish line in 17:28, which was just five-seconds ahead of Schluessler's 17:33.

Just under half-a-minute passed before Lutheran's Ayden Terning sprinted in third in 18:09. That got the pencils moving in the team race.

Lutheran put three in the top-nine, and all five scoring runners in the top-24 to claim the team title with 52 points. Golden View Classical Academy was second with 86, while Wheat Ridge was third with 101.
