Monday Morning Recap: Stellar Distance Debuts

If you weren't already excited for what's to come this outdoor season in Colorado, you're about to be.

We saw a glimpse of what's ahead at the PEAK Pre-Season #1, and let me just say...the results did not disappoint.

With it only being the middle of February, these athletes still came out swinging. Let's get into it! The boys 1600 was loaded - Senior Jacob Bach took the win in 4:18.29.

Not only was this a lifetime PR for Bach in his season-opener, but this time has him sitting at CO No. 1 and right on the edge of a US top 50 time at No. 51.

Christian Groendyk was right there with him, taking second in 4:20.99 - a CO No. 2 time.

The senior from Fort Collins also hit a lifetime PR. He will be someone to keep an eye on this year, he's coming off six consecutive wins from this past XC season.

Jack Brown and Evan Kraus followed closely behind, with Brown taking third in 4:29.25 and Kraus taking fourth in 4:29.31. These times are sitting at CO No. 3 and No. 4. Freshman Rocco Culpepper was a stride back in 4:29.97.

The girls' performances really showed out, there was a lot to see and a lot to be stoked about.

In the 1600, Anna Prok took the win in 5:01.72 - a CO No. 1 and a US No. 52 time. Should I mention yet another PR?

Prok is only a freshman and has already put her name out there in the rankings - she will definitely be someone to look out for. She's currently sitting No. 5 in the US freshman rankings.

Grace Moroney was second in 5:03.96 (CO No. 2), and Nadhia Campos was third in 5:08.21 (CO No. 3), also both PRs.

Addison Ritzenhein was fired up in the girls 3200. She ran a lifetime best of 10:54.08 and won the race by almost thirty seconds. This time is currently CO No. 1 and US No. 45.

Allison Pippert was second in 11:28.37 - a CO No. 2 time and, you guessed it, another PR.

Madison Shults had a whirlwind of a day. The senior took the win in both the 400 (58.72) and the 800 (2:12.11), running PRs in both. Her 800 time is good for CO No. 1 and US No. 6. Let's see what else the Stanford commit can do this upcoming season!

Mia Prok was two-seconds back in second in 2:14.75.

Lot's to look forward to in these next few weeks - the 2023 outdoor season is coming in hot!

Heading out of Colorado, Emily Lamontagne took full advantage of the lower elevations at the Dempsey Center in Seattle at the UW High School Invite. Lamontagne took second in the 3,000, running an impressive. 9:35. Meanwhile Bethany Michalak ran 4:49 in the mile. Matthew Edwards was a highlight among the boys, as he ran 8:33 in the 3,000.

In Sunday's USATF Colorado Indoor Championships Kourtney Rathke flew high once again clearing 13-6.25 to win the pole vault. Anna Willis also cleared 13-feet.

In the triple jump Kaeli Powe landed a 37-9.5 for a CO No. 2, while Finn Conway Reiser cleared 6-4 in the boys high jump to tie for a Colorado No. 1

Editor's Note: Results from Great Southwest are still being processed into our system.
