MileSplit Shorts: Soaring Over The Weather

For a solid 30 minutes it felt like Olivia Kosanovich was everywhere.

As soon as the Fairview senior fell back to earth she was up and running towards her bag to switch into her track spikes. 

Kosanovich had just cleared 11-7 in the pole vault, and was the only one remaining in the event.  

But the pole vault wasn't the only event she was competing in at the Centaurus Twilight Friday afternoon. 

The girl's 100 was on the track, and Kosanovich was in the final heat. 

Within minutes of clearing a height she'd later add to, she was crouched tight in the blocks on the track, waiting for the starter's gun to send her and everyone else onwards towards the finish line. 

She finished fourth, and just four-tenths of a second off the win.

While she had just finished the 100, and had a few more attempts remaining in the pole vault, the high jump was well underway, and she was also slated to compete in the event.

Minutes after starting the 100, she was back at the bottom of the track, switching out her spikes while taking deep breaths. 

The pole vault - which stood at 12-feet, two-inches above the ground - awaited her arrival. 

Kosanovich was all business and back on the runway just minutes after exploding out of the blocks for the 100.

She focused on the bar with curious eyes, then stormed down the runway to a 12-2 clearance, sending the bar upwards to what would be a personal best of 12-7. 

All the while, the high jump bar continued to rise as well just a few feet from where she was sprinting down the runway for the pole vault. 

Literally - the high jump was just feet away from the pole vault. 

After nearly clearing 12-7 several times, the event was hers with her 12-2 clearance. 

The high jump was now on tap.

She went on to nab another fourth-place finish, clearing 4-8.

She concluded all three events over the span of maybe half-an-hour, though it felt like less than that...

The weather blew away quite a few meets this weekend, regardless of the the snow, the wind, or the cold (once again I find myself writing these words... I'm thinking this means we'll have three consecutive beautiful days at JeffCo for State next month...) There were some great performances in the meets that did happen.
