Let's dive into the Girls Leap Of The Year...
Gianna Cicora takes the cake!
The Conifer sophomore sliced a massive 3:21 off her 2022 personal best, going from 22:39, all the way down to 19:17.
What makes Cicora's leap all the more impressive is when you consider that last year she didn't run at the State Championships - this year she finished 20th.
Add that she opened her 2023 cross country season with a 21:55 clocking, and went on to run over 20:30 for her first four races before torching a 19:17 at Desert Twilight.
After that she never looked back - she ran in the 19-minute range the rest of the season (three more races, including State.)
Circora was the lone runner (within the top-300 times run this season) to improve by over three-minutes.
Peak to Peak's Annaka Rudolph was close though!
Rudolph chopped 2:59 off her 2022 personal best, going from 22:26 down to 19:27.
Add that like Circora, Rudolph went from not competing at the State Championships, to finishing 34th this year.
Chaparral's Swede Sabey, Boulder's Rachel Tilton, and Mullen's Genevieve Hockin all improved over 2:50 as well.
