Cash Phares, McClave Middle School: Phares takes the top spot for the top returner in the discus, where he threw 145-6! He also threw 48-7.75 in the shot put, placing himself as the top returner in that event as well. Plus, he has already tried his hand in javelin, throwing 116-5 in that event as well.
Cain Vaughn, Brute Force Track Club: Vaughn threw 138-10.50 last season in the discus, putting him near the top of the list for returners going into the 2026 season! He is also fairly quick, running a wind-aided 12.39 in the 100m and 26.24 in the 200m. During the indoor season this year, he ran 7.62 in the 60m and 24.91 for the indoor 200m, showing a lot of improvement!
Hezekiah Calvetti-Potter, Chinook Trail Middle School: Calvetti-Potter is one of the top returners in shot put, throwing 41-0 even! He also threw the discus 68-8, which was a huge improvement from the first time he threw the discus, showing potential for growth in either event!
Carter Morris, Liberty Common Middle School: Morris cleared 5-11 in the high jump, making him the top returner in the event! He also long jumped 18-8 and has personal best times of 12.03 in the 100m, 26.54 in the 200m, and 27.94 in the 200m hurdles, showing a lot of speed and power.
Jackson Powelka, Lesher Middle School: Powelka has a lot of potential in a handful of different events, but in terms of returning marks, his high jump is one of the better ones. He jumped 5-5.5 last season, but also showed promise in the 200m hurdles, running 30.58! On top of that, he ran 2:30 in the 800m and has run cross country, showing a lot of diversity in events.
Owen Pedersen, Limon Middle School: Pederson also has a lot of depth running decent times in both the 400m and the 800m, but his strength is definitely in the horizontal jumps. Last season, Pederson jumped 17-11.5 in the long jump and 35-8.5 in the triple jump, which is the top returning mark for this season!
Kayson Sherwood, Lone Star Middle School: As one should in middle school, Sherwood has tried his hand in a lot of events, showing potential in many, including high jump and the hurdles, but his best event may be the pole vault, where he vaulted over 9-5 last season - a very impressive mark for a middle schooler!
Booker Kite, Idalia Junior High School: Similarly, Kite also has a lot of potential in a handful of events, including discus, where he threw 81-6.5, but his better event maybe the pole vault, especially because he is already learning the basics of the technical event at such a young age. Kite hit a personal best of 8-8 as a 6th grader!
Jacoby Nelson, Prairie Middle School: Nelson comes into this season with a personal best mark of 17-10 in the long jump, placing him nicely on the list of returners. He also has PRs of 26.38, 59.03, and 2:25 for the 200m, 400m, and 800m, respectively.
Balthazar Saint Tillman, Alpha & Omega Athletics: One of the top returners in sprinting, Tillman is also a name to look out for in the long jump. During the outdoor season last year, Tillman jumped 17-10, but he has been on a tear this indoor season, jumping consistently over 19 feet, with a personal best of 19-6.5!
Cash Phares, McClave Middle School: Phares takes the top spot for the top returner in the discus, where he threw 145-6!
