It's not that everything went right for Colorado on the day of finals. It didn't. Most notably, Dior Hall hit the fifth hurdle in the finals and missed her opportunity to bring home Simplot gold.
But, on balance, it was an outstanding day for the Colorado entries.
Probably nobody had a bigger day than Scott Carter of Elizabeth. Carter undid some frustration in the triple jump, winning with a leap of 48-11.5, putting him almost a foot ahead of the field. But Carter also came home with an 8th in both the long jump and 60 hurdles. In a meet that isn't regarded as conducive to high finishes in multiple events, Carter had a very successful weekend of it.
