There's been a lot going on in track and field that hasn't quite fit into an article all by itself. So, here's my attempt at cobbling together something that puts the recent news into one simple read.
Probably the biggest news concerns the performances of five Colorado high school athletes at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle last weekend. Dior Hall posted 8.32 and 8.28 times to pace the preliminaries and dominate the finals of the 60 hurdles. Kaela Edwards ran 2:13.83 to finish fifth in the 800. Marcus Harris was fifth in the 60 at 6.83. Heather Bates ran 4:54.18 in the mile. To give you an idea of how strong the meet was, that time was only good enough for seventh. And, finally, MaryBeth Sant also had a seventh in the 60 with a time of 7.48. All in all, some very nice performances for the Colorado contingent.
Things are still quiet on the outdoor front, but that scene is getting ready to explode. One more weekend and the actual meets will be underway--and the weather ahead for next week looks like it may turn out to be a spectacular opening to the season. For now, though, many of us have done battle with the elements in the first week of practice.

I'm still happy to post news of college signings on the site if you're able to pass that information along my way. We continue to get a trickle of reports each week.
Event area previews will continue to go up over the next eight or nine days until actual competition begins. At that point, the editorial focus of this site will move toward meet coverage. It will be nice, for me at least, to have a fresh new set of photos to pick from to illustrate the articles posted on this site.
