Cole Sprout enters as a heavy favorite to take the individual title.

Some of the individuals in the country are coming out of the Southwest Region, but before we get to them, let's take a look at the team competition, where two squads earn automatic berths to Nationals, and the third and fourth place teams will be thrown into a pool for an At-Large big (More information on qualifying below).

There is no clear "Favorite," or "Battle For Second" in this batch. Unlike the clarity of the girl's team competition, the boy's competition looks insanely close.

Following their dominating state title, Dakota Ridge looks like the team of destiny. They downed the defending state champions, Mountain Vista (and 2017 NXN third-place finishers), by 19 points, and look to be in a good position to extend their season on into December. In the Colorado State Power Merge they were clear victors.

They're ranked No. 8 in the country, but they'll have a hotly contested battle on their hands in order to get out or Arizona.
