2A girls has enjoyed a run of several solid athletes, and that's not looking to change for this year. Some very competitive runners will be basking in the glow of the 2A spotlight once again this fall.

Here's a quick review of last year's top ten:

1. Rachel Hampton, Telluride - Graduated, and headed for the Harvard Crimson.

2. Miriam Roberts, Lyons - Not only is Roberts the top returning runner in 2A girls cross country, but she also snared second-place finishes in both the 1600 and 3200 at the state track meet. Neither Hampton nor Tabor Scholl, who finished ahead of her in the two events, will be running 2A cross country this fall. And so, my winner recognition software has Roberts pegged as the presumptive favorite.
