Girls cross country didn't begin in Colorado until 1978, so the list of state champions is about half the length of boys state champions. Unlike a lot of states, however, Colorado started girls at the same distance the boys ran. So, 1978-1980 were three mile races, and the state races have been 5K thereafter.
