A Long List of Upcoming Meets

There's plenty of track and field action still to come this summer, and much of it at a very high level.

This weekend brings us the Portland Track Festival and the LIFT Invitational.

The Portland Track Festival falls under the heading of big-deal kind of meet. We know right now that at least Katie Rainsberger is slated to compete. There may be others from Colorado as well, but I've not yet seen a set of heat sheets for the meet.

Also missing an available set of heat sheets is the LIFT Invitational at Lewis-Palmer High School on Friday. This one is the updated version of the Landsharks Invitational. LIFT (Let It Fly Track) has taken over in place of Landsharks, which has scaled back and will no longer be working with high school level athletes. LIFT picked up many, though not all, of the former Landsharks-affiliated athletes.

Colorado Track XC will have photo coverage at the LIFT Invitational.

Down the road a bit, the USATF-Colorado State Meet will be held at All-City Stadium in Denver on June 18 and 19. Multis will be contested on Thursday and Friday. Once again, Colorado Track XC aims to have coverage at that meet.

One of the purposes of the USATF Colorado State Junior Olympic meet is to qualify athletes for the next round, Region X in Albuquerque in July.

June 17-19, and competing directly with both Brooks PR and the USATF Colorado State Junior Olympic meet is New Balance Nationals Outdoor in North Carolina. We'll be seeing at least preliminary start lists for that one fairly soon.

Colorado will also be sending a substantial delegation to the USATF Junior Championships in Clovis, California, on July 24-26. Entries are not yet finalized for that meet, but it is safe to say we'll see several Colorado entries at that one. Some of those entries have already gone on and completed a year of college, but still meet the Junior age requirements. Most of the Colorado entries this year will be female athletes.

And, of course, Colorado is sending five entries to Brooks PR on June 18. We've already talked about those individuals here.
