Joshua Simpson has already begun his impact on Montrose High School cross country fortunes.
This article will wrap up the series on grading freshman classes. It's 4A's turn, finally.
Making an impact as a freshman in 4A is tough. Most teams are large enough that freshman with a modicum of talent aren't necessarily ushered quickly onto the varsity roster. Some are, but many more take longer to get there.
The problems we observed with 3A and 5A are here with 4A as well. Not every 4A team was in action last week. I can't guarantee that every freshman was in action even if the team was in action. And, at the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede, no times were recorded or published in the JV races, leaving any freshmen in those races of out the picture so far as this article is concerned.
So, limitations abound--meaning I'll have to circle back to this topic at some point. In the meanwhile, enjoy this sneak peak at which schools are already ahead of the game with their freshman classes.
