Delta Regionals: A Rushing Wind Augments Challenge Of State Qualifying

 2A Region 1 Girls

This year there were so surprises for the individual regional title. Soleil Gaylord was the favorite entering the competition and had things well in hand by the race mid-point. Her grip on the lead remained and there were no challengers on the final sprint to the finish.

That does not diminish, however, the efforts of the others following her to the line. Crested Butte's Sydney Petersen and Maria O'Neal, split by Soroco's Chloe Veilleux, all looked incredibly strong as they finished the race.

Colorado Rocky Mountain School's Linnea Sherman nipped Paonia's Tawnee Roberts for fifth followed by Grace Manning of Mancos.

Then the team title was decided: Katya Schwieterman, Brooke Hillman and just for good measure, Alexandra Eaton, all crossed for Paonia for 23 points. Soroco, Crested Butte, and Mancos rounded out the team qualifiers.

In their first season as a team, Caprock Academy, finished Ashleigh Gardner and Elsie Wilkens in the top 12.
