Leaping Into History At The Front Range League Championships

Julia Pattison brought the fire to the girl's sprints. The Monarch senior swept the 100 and the 200 in dominating fashion - and with impressive consistency.  Pattison ran 12.09 in the 100 prelims Thursday, then came back to run 12.10 in the finals. Likewise, she ran 24.81 in the 200 prelims, then came back to run 24.79 in the finals.

Sticking with the topic of consistency, Kiarra Lapp ran 58.63 in the 400 prelims, then won the finals in 58.30. And Kiarra wasn't the only Lapp family member nabbing a W.

Cadence Lapp kicked late to win the 800 over Ella Johns and Helen Carlson. Cadence ran personal best of 2:15.32. Johns ran 2:16.41, while Carlson was third in 2:16.56.

Several hours earlier Johns had a fiery kick of her own. The Fort Collins junior torched the final lap of the 1,600 to win the event in 5:05.79. Mia Mraz was second five seconds back in 5:10.35, while Tatum Berg was third in 5:14.

The day before Johns telescoped away with the 3,200, running 11:07. Berg was second in 11:19.

Three of the top-four times in the 5A 4x800 were run Thursday. Fort Collins dropped a 5A No. 2 of 9:33.51 to win the event by three seconds. Meanwhile Legacy edged out Fossil Ridge, running 9:36.03 to Fossil's 9:36.32.

In the discus Kajsa Borrman emerged victorious with a toss of 136-04.20. Laura Davis was second with a mark of 129. Davis did get a W out of the meet, however, winning the shot put with a toss of 39-10.5.

Meanwhile Lilly Nichols got some serious air in the pole vault. The Broomfield sophomore backed up last week's 13-4 victory with an easy 12-3 clearance. Victoria Spitzley took second with a 11-9, while the Fairview duo of Olivia Kosanovich and Sophie Pierce cleared 10-9.
