CSU-Pueblo Early Bird 2025 Meet Recap

On the girls' side, the pole vault was also just as exciting as another Discovery Canyon athlete rose high above the bar. Caitlin Kestner got over the bar at 11-10, tying her for the lead in the state of Colorado.

Another impressive mark came from Jade West of Niwot High School at the shot put ring. She was the easy favorite to win the whole event, and she threw a mark of 42-7.5. This mark puts her way out front in comparison to the rest of Colorado, but the more impressive fact is this mark is still quite a bit below her standard. Over the indoor season, she tossed a mark of 46-10.25 at the end of January at the Texas Tech Kittley High School Invitational. There is definitely a lot more to see from this Niwot senior as the season progresses.

On the track, the hurdles definitely turned into an exciting affair as Alexa Queen of Fountain-Fort Carson came out on top over the incredibly competitive field, where over half the competitors were top 10 returners in the state of Colorado. Queen crossed the finish line in a time of 15.09.

She then went on to defeat another competitive field in the 300m hurdles, where she finished just ahead of Reese Kasper of Niwot High School in a time of 44.42. Kasper also ran to a sub- 45 second time, shooting both of these two to the top of the rankings. One fun fact about Queen is she does cross country in the fall, and she mentioned that she believes it helps her with her endurance and mental toughness in the 300m hurdles event, which it proved true in this early season bout.

Finally, the 1600m on the girls side had a similar finish to the boys. Niwot's Anna Prok got out to an early lead and started off on a sub-5 minute mile pace. As the race continued, Vivian Jack of The Classical Academy slowly closed the gap and came storming down the home stretch. However, it was not quite enough, as Prok crossed the line in a time of 5:10 and Jack finished with 5:11. Both marks put these ladies in a good spot this early on in the season and with Jack just a sophomore, there is a lot of room for growth throughout the season.
