Okay, so we all know it's not a cross country race. Even Mario Garcia knows it's not a cross country race. But, somehow, you know when the meet is calling your name.
The Wiggins Invitational has been calling my name for a while now. Until this year, however, we always had a conflicting date with a league meet. Moving up to 4A and having the local 4A league turn us down for a date to their dance meant Wiggins was, by far, the best available option. And, short of driving to Monte Vista or Rifle, it was the only option.
They do a lot of things well at Wiggins. One, it's a genuinely friendly atmosphere. Two, it is definitely a slice of small-town Americana you simply can't find anywhere close to Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs, or Pueblo. And that would include Lyons, one of my favorite places to run cro...
