Simon Kelati ran the fastest time of the weekend with his 15:58 win at Fort Morgan.
Now that Liberty Bell is behind us, it's likely most times posted there will remain for another month. So, the Weekly Rankings that have become a Monday trend will shape-shift a bit to highlight some of the best performances coming out of each weekend.
Greeley Central's Simon Kelatihas been putting together quite a solid season, and he's only raced three times. But he's won two of three, which includes a 15:58 season best from this past weekend. Currently he's got the eighth fastest time in 4A - and this is coming from someone who didn't run at Liberty Bell.
In other words, Kelati has been running like a top-five-at-state-kind-of-runner. He's the real deal.
We finally got a glimpse of The Classical Academy's Mason Norman. The TCA junior opened his season with a 16:01 win at Eagle Valley. A year ago he won this meet in 16:27. So we're seeing a 26-second improvement... Norman's 16:01 is the second fastest time in 3A behind William Ledden's 15:59 from Liberty Bell. Like Kelati, here's a very subtle performance that only hints at what's to come.
Another notable performance from this list is Seth Bruxvoort's 16:08 victory at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Invitational in Gunnison's thin air. That's the fastest winning time in over a decade. Additionally, it's the fastest time in 2A. Bruxvoort has really gone to another level this season.
All in all, 99 runners broke 17:45 this weekend, 28 broke 17, and one broke 16.
