Mountain Vista returns the fastest squad among 5A.
In terms of personal bests from the 2018 season, Mountain Vista once again is the fastest squad. There isn't any other team who countered their three sub 17:45 5kers from 2018.
Their 1-2-3 punch of Jenna Fitzsimmons, Sarah O'Sullivan, Madison Reed is unrivaled in terms of speed.
Shayda Zarrin and Shantell Hafner round out their top five with a 59-second 1-5 split and a team average of 17:55.
Add Nina St. John's 18:31 to the mix and they've got the fastest No. 6 runner in the state.
Cherokee Trail comes in No. 2 on this list with a team average of 18:29 and 1-5 split of 1:51. Cameron McConnell's 17:17 really pushes that average down and 1-5 split up, however.
Soonhee Han and Tarikwa Woldemariam have both run under 18:33, while Campbell Faust dipped under 19 last year, and Megan Hodges is just on the cusp with a 19:08 season best from a year ago.
While Cherry Creek comes in No. 3 in terms of returning speed, though that's a little deceiving, as they actually return the fastest squad from the 2018 state championships - but I'll save that for another article...
Like Cherokee Trail, they've got an incoming sophomore leading the squad. Riley Stewart's 17:18 was only second to McConnell in terms of returners.
Also like Cherokee Trail, they return a stellar top four that have already dipped under 19 minutes. Erin Smith, Shelby Balding, Tarikwa Woldemariam, and Lauren Lapporte have already achieved the feat, while Megan Hodges is just a few strides back.
And speaking of deceiving lists from 2018: Valor Christian.
Valor graduated some all-stars last year, but they've picked up a few more already. They added Lanie Szuch and Isabelle Prosceno to the roster.
