Lightning On The Track At The Montrose Invitational

Small Town Athletes Go Big

Debeque's Faith Novess currently tops the 1A rankings in three events. Although she did not better her top mark in the high jump, her 5-3.5 was more than enough to best all other horizontal jumpers for the day.  That was after a 16.73 (-.05) in the 100H. She also competed at the Clint Wells Invite the day before.

Delta's Remi Baldwin (48.96) and Montezuma-Cortez's Ashley Wood (49.69) improved their 300H marks bringing them higher in the 3A rankings. Telluride freshman Maile Silva bettered her mark as well to 50.39.

Continuing small school prowess in the high jump, Nic Martin of North Park leaped 6-0 for second place.  Roaring Fork's Jasper Germain won the competition at 6-2, before raising the bar to 6-8.5. He missed his three attempts but was oh-so-close on the last one.

Martin's teammate, Blayden Fletcher went to the line in the 110H with Glenwood's Aj Crowley, losing to Crowley by 0.02 of a second, 15.59 to 15.61 into a 1.7 headwind.  Fletcher's time is currently the 1A leader.
