Zack Gacnik and Grahm Tuohy-Gaydos battled into the final mile of the 4A Jeffco League Meet.

We're into the final weeks of the 2020 Colorado cross country season!

Evidence of this fact can be found within the results of the past weekend - because there were a ridiculous amount of incredible performances. It's clear that everyone is beginning to sharpen up for Championship Season. 

It's Monday - here are the highlights of the highlights... 

Desert Twilight did happen this year, and a few of Colorado's best headed south for the two-day event. 

On the girl's side of the competition Niwot's Stella Vieth led the way. Vieth ran 18:54 to finish 15th. On the boy's side of the meet some of Colorado's best 2A/3A runners toed the line. 

Gunnison's Alex Baca led Colorado with a 15:24 clocking, which was just ahead of Kidus Begashaw, who ran 15:28. Crested Butte's Connor Williams was ten seconds back in 15:38. 

In their first meeting of the season it looks like we've got a hot battle brewing - Begashaw and Wiliams will toe the line once again and battle it out for the 2A state title in a few weeks.

Back in Colorado there were plenty of big performances that lit up the sky. 

Grahm Tuohy-Gaydos and Zack Gacnik battled into the final mile of the 4A Jeffco League Meet. Tuohy-Gaydos threw down the hammer in the final 1,000 to claim the victory here, running 15:59 to Gacnik's 16:07. 

At THE Continental League West Division Championships Mountain Vista came out swinging. 

Shayda Zarrin, Nina St John, and Shantell Hafner went 1-2-3 with Zarrin winning in 18:24. All three dipped under 19 minutes. And keep an eye on Skye Henley - the ThunderRidge sophomore ran a PR of 18:55 to finish fourth. 

On the boy's side of the meet Harrison Witt started a streak - he picked up his second consecutive victory with a stellar 15:30 clocking. Rock Canyon's Robert Scott was second in 15:49.

At the Tri Peaks Championships Zaila Smith once again proved she's the real deal. 

The Buena Vista sophomore claimed the title in 19:05. Kylie Simshauser won the 3A race in 19:16 (different course). 

On the topic of big performances, the Longs Peak League Meet had plenty of them. 

Berthoud's Olivia Krueger took the girl's title in 18:30. Niwot's Cayden Justice took second here in 18:47, which was just ahead of teammate Taylor James' 18:50.

On the boy's side of the meet Jackson Shorten made a big statement. The Mountain View junior dropped a stellar 15:15 - that's the third-fastest time in all classifications. Caden Schweer took second in 16:03. 

Down in Colorado Springs at the PPAC 5A League Meet Lauren Boutelle ran away with the girl's title in 19:10, while Ben Conlin did the same in the boy's race, running 15:46.

At the DPS League Meet it was East verses South again - with Laura Romero and Sara Wexler battling to the line. Romero took the victory again, running 18:40 to Wexler's 18:42.

Charlie Welch picked up his fourth consecutive victory, running 15:53 to claim the boy's race.

At the Wiggins Cross Country Invitational Peyton swept the individual races. Eowyn Dalbec took the girl's race in 18:39, while Joel Schluessler took the boy's race in 16:28. Dalbec's 18:38 is currently the fastest time in 2A.

The Lewis-Palmer duo of Aubrey Surage and Jade Allen continued to impress. 

Surage and Allen went 1-2 at the PPAC 4A League Meet. Surage took the win in 18:57, while Allen was second in 19:15. 

At the Northern Front Range League Meet Ella Johns ran a season-best of 18:35 to claim the girl's title. Fossil Ridge's Adugna Moritz took the boy's title in 16:19, which was eight-seconds ahead of Dalton Kaines.

At the 5A Jeffco League Meet (which was run on the same course as the 4A meet) Emma Stutzman torched the field with a 18:57 clocking.  Likewise, Jacob White took the boy's race in 15:52.

At the JV Pantherfest Samantha Blair cracked 18 minutes for the third time this season - Blair dropped a 17:40 FTW.

Ryan Montera picked up win No. 5 of his season at the South Front Range League Meet. The Legacy senior ran 16:07. 

3A defending state champ Sierra Bower appears to be rounding into shape. The Basalt senior picked up the victory at the Whistle Pig Invite, running 18:11. Teammate Katelyn Maley took second here, running 18:23.

At the CSLM South League Meet Scott Prieve took the win in 16:08. Zinabu Engstrom was second in 16:24.

Quin Gregg and Xander Stanton had runaway victories at the Mile High League Meet. Gregg took the girl's race in 19:15, while Stanton took the boy's race in 16:30.
