CSU-Pueblo Early Bird Meet Preview

For the girls, the most stacked event will be the hurdles. In the 100m hurdles race, the #1 returner, Reagan Falletta of Pueblo East High School comes in with a seed time of 14.42. She will not be alone though, where three other girls with sub-15 second seed times will line up as well. Reese Kasper of Niwot High School (#3 returner), Alexa Queen from Fountain-Fort Carson (#6 returner), and Hayden Golden of Pueblo West ( #8 returner) are all slated to race at CSU-Pueblo. It will definitely be a showdown between these ladies and will set an early statement for this season.

For the 300m hurdles, the level of talent is similar, where we will see a showdown between the #1 and #2 returners with Reese Kasper of Niwot High School holding the fastest seed time of 42.23 seconds. She will face the aforementioned Alexa Queen, who comes in with a seed time of 43.19 seconds.

Continuing on with the theme of sprints the second fastest returner in Colorado will lace up her spikes in the 100m dash. Heidi Nielsen of The Classical Academy comes in with a time of 11.86 and is ahead of the rest of the field by over a half a second.

On the distance side, Niwot High School has always had their fair share of stars, and Anna Prok is no stranger to the front of the pack. She will be racing the 1600m, hoping to best her seed time of 5:04. Maybe we will have the privilege of seeing a sub-5 minute performance.

If that was not enough talent for you on the track, the field events are just as star-studded.

Starting with throws, Jade West of Niwot High School will be throwing in both the discus and the shot put. For the discus, her mark of 137-9 is the #1 returning mark. She also has the #1 returning throw in the shot put, with a toss of 44-5.25. Her mark is over 10 feet farther than anyone else on the list, making her the clear favorite for both the throwing events.

Finally, the long jump and the high jump will be graced by Bradie Menegatti of Pueblo West. She has the #4 returning mark (wind legal) in the long jump. Though her seed jump of 19-8.25 was not wind legal, she still has a mark of 19-3.25 making her a clear favorite in the long jump.

For the high jump, her mark of 5-6 is just one inch from the top returning mark and looks to be the favorite in Pueblo this weekend. However Delaney Pighetti of Pueblo County will look to challenge her. Though her seed jump of 5-10 is quite a bit higher than her personal best her coach may know something we do not, and she did finish 3rd at this meet a year ago, so she has the experience and could challenge Menegatti.
