It feels like there were a million meets over the past week, so there's plenty to recap. As always, these are the highlights of the highlights. 

Let's start at the Centennial League Warrior 5k, where the top returner in the state opened his season. 

Parker Wolfe came out of the gates at full speed. The Cherry Creek senior dropped the fastest time in the state so far, running 15:30. 

Add that his margin of victory was nearly a minute-and-a-half...

On the girl's side of the competition Riley Stewart continued to impress. The Cherry Creek junior ran 17:29, missing Bri Oakley's 17:28 course record by one second. 

Cameron McConnell took the runner-up finish here, dipping under 18 for the second time this season, running 17:57.

In the team race Cherry Creek once again came out on top of Arapahoe, winning 34-40, while Cherokee Trail was third with 48. 

By comparison, Cherry Creek beat Arapahoe by the same margin (30-36) a few weeks ago the Centennial League Mullen Invite. 

Moving along... 

At the Evergreen Epic Topi Alahuhta joined the Sub-16 club. The Conifer senior ran away with the W in 15:52.

Jackson Shorten continued to rage over the course - the Mountain View junior dominated the field at the Niwot HS Invitational in Lyons, running 15:54. Broomfield's James Thomas took second here, running 16:17.

One of the more competitive meets of the weekend came from the high country. The Battle Mountain Husky Invitational was revealing in many ways. 

We caught our first glimpse of the defending 4A state champions - the Niwot boys and girls - and another freshman sensation - Mia Prok. 

Niwot's Prok ran away from a stellar field that included the top returner in 4A and last year's runner-up - Samantha Blair. 

Prok proved that she deserves to be in the state conversation, along with Air Academy freshman Bethany Michalak. 

For the boys Zane Bergen led Niwot in dominating fashion to take the boy's race.
