Maren Busath held off a considerable crowd to win the girls 800 in 2:20 at the Colorado Elite Winter Series #4.

Winter has returned...

But fortunately the weekend's slate of meets went off under more spring-like conditions. 

Here are the highlights of the highlights... 

If you haven't heard yet, Parker Wolfe went full-on beast-mode Saturday night at the Texas Distance Festival. The Cherry Creek senior dropped a US No. 1, meet record, and fastest time ever by a Coloradan, winning the 5,000 in 14:06. Add that he won the event by a staggering 29 seconds...

Editor's Note: Because athletes were registered as "Unattached-TX" for the Texas Distance Festival, it's difficult to sift through and find Colorado athletes - bare with me if I miss any big highlights...

Olivia Krueger highlighted on the girl's side. The Berthoud junior finished 13th in the 1,600, running 5:05.  

Back in Colorado at the Let's Get REAL #2 Taylor James pulled off an impressive triple. The Niwot senior won the 200 in 25.42, the 400 in 56.89, and finished second in the 800 in 2:12.55. Claiming the 800 was Niwot teammate Madison Shults, who ran 2:12.40. Shults also finished second (to James) in the 400, running 57.77. 

Meanwhile, Lucca Fulkerson was the runaway winner of the 1,600 running 5:04. 

Kimora Northrup reigned supreme int he hurdles. Northrup won the 100 hurdles in 14.74, and the 300 hurdles in 43.57. 

In the field Sierra Haberman was a big highlight. The Jefferson Academy junior tied her personal best in the high jump, clearing 5-4 to claim the event.

On the boy's side of the competition the highlights came out of the distance events, which saw some great races. 

Zane Bergen ran an impressive double, winning the 800 in 1:55.02, just ahead of Charlie Welch's 1:56.82. Bergen also claimed the 1,600, running 4:19.11, which was exactly two seconds ahead of Jackson Shorten's 4:21.11. James Overberg was a close third, running 4:21.38. 

A few eye-popping performances came out of the Colorado Elite Winter Track Series #4. 
Gavin Schurr dropped a US No. 1 of 10.50 in the 100 - into a headwind. 

Meanwhile, William Merrick picked up two big PRs over the weekend. He blitzed the field in the 800, running a 1:53.68 - that's a US No. 12. Merrick also won the 400 in 49.82. 

Giavonna Meeks continues to impress in the throws. The Northfield junior won the discus, the shot, and the hammer throw. She PRd in the discus with a toss of 142-11.5, and the hammer, with a toss of 168-3.25.

At the ATB 550 Pole Vault Gym Session #11 Megan Kelleghan and Lilly Nichols went over 12 feet. Both cleared 12-1.25. Likewise, Garrett Searls, Jackson Wray, and Will Chiang cleared 14 feet - all three cleared 14-1.
