Monday Morning Recap: Indoor Goes Out With A Bang

The regular indoor season in Colorado went out with a bang this past weekend - these athletes definitely kept it REAL (anyone tired of the REAL puns yet?)

The top highlight of the entire weekend, though, has to be Bobby Reyes opting out of the Coaches 600m race at the Let's Get REAL Invitational Championship...

Editor's Note: Hey, I'm not a coach...

We have three different meets to look at from the weekend, so let's dive right in! At the Let's Get REAL Invitational Championship, we saw a ton of impressive performances.

Some of the most notable performances included:

CO No. 1 performances in the girls 60 meter hurdles (Gabriella Cunningham), 800 (Anna Prok), mile (Addison Ritzenhein), 3200 (Reese Tucker), as well as fallen meet records in the boys 60 (Joe Ciccio), 200 (Tavon Underwood), 1,600 and 3,200 (Ryan Olreehigh jump (Sonny Ciccarelli), pole vault (Tate Murdock, and Anna Willis), and much more!

You can read more about it in Bobby's recap, he had plenty of time to cover it during the Coaches 600...

Editor's Note: Touché...

We saw some great performances at the Western Colorado University High School Indoor Open as well!

In the girls high jump, Nykole Meshew cleared 5-5 to take the win and a new indoor PR - her jump puts her at CO No. 3.

Meshew will be a high jumper to look out for heading into the outdoor season, she's just getting started. Last spring, she had nine consecutive wins and a third place finish at the State Championship.

Keira Bennett and Addison Edwards put out great performances in the girls weight throw. Bennett took the win, throwing 42-9, which puts her at CO No. 3 with a new indoor PR.

Edwards threw 40-3, however, her mark of 45-11 from a few weeks ago at the Colorado Mines Indoor Series #2 meet puts her at CO No. 2.

In the boys 60 meter hurdles, Nigel James clocked 8.27 for the win. He's sitting at CO No. 2 with his time of 8.14 from a few weeks ago at the Colorado Mines Indoor Series #5.

James had a great season - he posted five victories throughout this winter.

Elijah Anderson jumped 6-0 to take the boys high jump victory. His PR from earlier this season of 6-4 has him sitting at CO No. 3.

Charlie Lafore really showed out this weekend, having dominating performances in both shot put and weight throw. His shot put win marked 57-4, while the weight throw marked 65-1.

Lafore has gone undefeated for the entire indoor season in both events. He's currently sitting at CO No. 1 in both events.

Hayden Cuevas was close behind, taking second in the weight throw marking 52-5. He is currently CO No. 2 in the event.
