SAC Relays on Thursday night (April 14). Kanetzky was one of two Falcons to compete during the day of competition at the annual event in Walnut, Calif.
Senior Noah Palicia posted the second-highest decathlon total in Academy history (7,385 points) to win the 10-event competition at the California Combined Meet in Azusa, Calif., on Thursday, April 14. Competing in a California Invitational field of 30, Palicia improved his overall score by nearly 750 points to vault from eighth to second in the program standings, while posting a Senior Class Record.
Highlighted by a decathlon event record from Noah Palicia, three members of the Air Force track and field team completed the first day of action at the Mt. SAC/California Multi-Meet late Wednesday. With 3,621 points, Palicia is in fifth after the first five events. He is one of two Falcons to sit within the top 10 of the 30-member California Decathlon section, as Michael Tibbs is currently in seventh with 3,537 points.
Members of the Air Force track and field team will head to California for three competitions, while the rest of the squad remains in-state for another. The Falcons' multi-athletes will compete at the California Multi-Meet on April 13-14, while the rest will compete at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 14-16, as well as the Beach Invitational on April 16. Senior Air Force distance runner Brittany Morreale (Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.) was awarded one of 32 Rhodes Scholarships for 2010. Morreale is the Academy's 36th recipient of this prestigious award and the 11th cadet-athlete to earn the honor.
Air Force junior Justin Tyner will represent the Academy at the 2009 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships on Monday, Nov. 21. The national meet, featuring 31 teams and 38 individual competitors, will take place on the LaVern Gibson Championship Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Ind. Junior Justin Tyner clocked a career-best time of 23:45 to place third at the 2009 Mountain West Conference Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31, in Orem, Utah. With all five scoring runners placing within the top-25, the Falcons finished third in the team standings. The women picked up an impressive fourth-place finish in the team standings, as four of the five scoring runners placed within the top 30.

The Air Force cross country team begins the 2009 championship season this weekend, as its top nine runners travel to Orem, Utah, for the Mountain West Conference Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31. The meet, which is hosted by BYU, will feature six men's teams and nine women's teams. The two championship races will take place at the Cascade Golf Course.
While the Air Force cross country varsity team members prepare for the upcoming conference championship meet, the rest of the Falcons' runners concluded the season at the RMAC Open in Denver, Colo., on Saturday, Oct. 24. Air Force sent 19 members to Washington Park in downtown Denver to compete in an "open" event hosted by Metro State.

For the second time this season, Justin Tyner paced the Air Force cross country team at a national meet. The junior recorded a career-best 8K time of 24:17 to place 21st amongst 238 Division I runners at the 2009 Pre-Nationals Meet in Terre Haute, Ind., on Saturday, Oct. 17. Tyner guided the men to a 12th-place finish in the 34-team "Blue" race.
