Maelynn Higgins ran a 5A state-leading 2:12.70 800 at the Broomfield Shootout.
For the second consecutive week a state record fell - two in fact.
That's already strange enough.
Add that this past weekend was when the Colorado state track and field championships typically take place.
Coincidence?
Scanning the results of the second week of the outdoor season, it's crazy to say that the first week must have been the warm-up.
Let's get to it... Here are the highlights of the highlights.
If you haven't heard yet - there are two new Colorado state records this week. Saturday morning Parker Wolfe officially added the 3,200 state record to his resume, running 8:55.94. For a few hours Wolfe held the 1,600, 3,200, and 5k Colorado state records.
Cue: Harrison Witt.
Across town Witt went beast-mode on his own and lowered Wolfe's one week-old 1,600 record down to 4:05.18.
What's additionally mind-bogging, is that up until last week the 1,600 record was 40 years-old, and no Coloradan had broken 4:10 in the state. Over the past decade nine had run between 4:11 and 4:12. Eight days later two have broken 4:07. That's not exactly chipping away at a record, it's truly breaking it.
The dam has broken.

In Colorado Springs Harrison Panther Invite played host to quite a few reveals.
Teammates Mikayla Hutchison and Jaysa Even gave 2A to reason to look at Banning Lewis Preparatory as a serious threat in the team race. Hutchinson won the 100 in 12.69, and finished second in the 200 in 26.51. Even took second in the high jump at 5-1 and a fourth in the 100 hurdles at 17.19. Meanwhile Bethany Michalak dropped a big personal best in the 800, winning the event in 2:14.31. And speaking of big PRs, off the track Olivia Allison won the high jump in 17-8.5 - that's about four-feet beyond her previous best.
On the boy's side of the competition Derek Allen and Lawrence Walker took the 200 down the the inches. And by inches, I mean that the two were separated by one-hundredth of a second. Allen to the win here, running 22.65 to Walker's 22.66. Meanwhile Erik Le Roux ran away with the 1,600, running 4:26 to claim the event. Off the track Brandon Hills leapt over 23-feet in the long jump for a new Colorado No. 1 of 23-1.75.
