The Lewis-Palmer duo ofJade Allen and Aubrey Surage and made some big gains at the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede.

I'm still reeling from the weekend. 

It was perhaps the most-revealing of this unique season so far. 

And it wasn't just one meet, or two meets, or even three that had some crazy performance, it was across the board, across the state. With this new Covid-style cross country season we're having, we're seeing what feels like a million meets a week with a million great performances. 

It's mind-boggling. 

We'll start with the most historic performance of the week...

If you haven't heard yet, Parker Wolfe dropped the fastest 5k by a Colorado high schooler ever. 

The Cherry Creek senior scorched the competition at the Heritage Distance Classic (AKA Liberty Bell 2020 edition) Saturday morning, running 14:30. The time topped Cole Sprout's one year-old Colorado soil record of 14:38, resetting the course record, and Colorado record. It's also a US No. 1. 

Valor Christian's Ty Garrett finished second in the race. The sophomore transfer ran 15:23. 

And the girl's race was just as impressive. 

Wyoming's Sydney Thorvaldson torched her own course record to run nation-leading 16:19, while Cherry Creek's Riley Stewart nearly cracked 17, running 17:06 to finish second. 

Pomona Sophomore Emma Stutzman had a big run of her own, finishing third in 17:37 - that's over a half-minute personal best.

The team race was highly competitive as well, with Valor and Arapahoe going head-to-head. Valor took the W here, tallying 36 points to Arapahoe's 43.

And crazy as the Heritage Distance Classic was, more big news came out of the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede. 

Bethany Michalak became the third runner to crack 18 on the Penrose course, and the second fastest, ever.

The Air Academy freshman soloed a jaw-dropping 17:27 for a 1:02 victory. Michalak's time is second all-time behind 2016 national champion Brie Oakley's 17:07.

The Lewis-Palmer duo of Aubrey Surage and Jade Allen had big runs of their own, despite starting in the second wave, they went on to run the second and third fastest times of the day, with Surage crossing in 18:29, while Allen was just 11 seconds back in 18:40.

The Air Academy girls look strong as well, taking Friday's 4A team title in dominating fashion. 

Of additional note - the Buena Vista girls looked incredibly strong in 2A. Then went 1-3-4-5 to tally an impressive 13 points. Count them as a state contender... 

The Classical Academy boys took down the defending state champs - Frontier Academy in the boy's 3A race - and this one was close. TCA tallied 50 points to Frontier's 53. 

The TCA girls left no questions in the girl's race, going 1-2-4-5-8 for 20 points. 

Erik Le Roux ran the fastest time among the boy's 15:58, leading the Cheyenne Mountain boy's to the team title. 

And on the topic of 4A, Grahm Tuohy-Gaydos made lemonade with lemons this past week. After the Standley Lake 4A race was canceled, he hit the roads and dropped a blazing 14:48 at the Denver 5k. 

Tuohy-Gaydos finished in a sea of Colorado School of Mines stars from their 2019 national champion squad. He was just five seconds behind Mines All-American Kyle Moran. Last year Moran finished fourth at the NCAA D2 Cross Country National Championships. And Tuohy-Gaydos beat Dylan Ko, who was seventh at last year's D2 national championships. 

On the Western Slope Jadyn Heil continued to rage over the course. The Fruita-Monument junior cracked 18 for the second time this season. She won the GJ Tiger Invitational in 17:54. Glenwood's Sophia Connerton-Nevin and Ella Johnson went 2-3, running 18:33, and 18:41.

McGinley Zastrow took the boy's race with a 16:00 clocking.

Ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to Katelyn Maley. 

The Basalt sophomore dropped the third-fastest time in the state this past weekend, running 17:21 at the Delta Confluence Invitational for the win. Teammate Sierra Bower was the runner-up here, running 17:54. 

Maley's time was a personal best by over a minute, meaning she's clearly made The Jump.

At the Adams City Varsity Race #2 Charlie Welch ran his first 5k of the season. He backed up that 9:33 2-mile clocking from a few weeks ago with a sub-16, running 15:59 for a dominating victory. 

Reese Tucker started a streak. The Chatfield freshman picked up win No. 2 at the Charger Invite. Tucker blitzed the field with a 18:15 clocking - a 53-second victory. 

Word on the course is that the Fairview Invitational was tough. 

But it seems that Mia Prok likes challenges. The Niwot freshman dropped another big win, running 18:33 - a 30-second victory. Ella Johns took the runner-up spot here, running 19:03.

Niwot put five in the top-eight for a tally of 23 points.

James Overberg took the W in the highly competitive boy's race. The Centaurus senior took Niwot's Zane Bergen in a lean at the line, running 16:13.6 to Bergen's 16:13.8. Lukas Haug was 11 seconds back in third.

Niwot put five in the top-ten for a tally of 36 points.

At the Fossil Ridge Invite Ryan Montera extended his win-streak to four. The Legacy senior ran 16:01 FTW.

And speaking of extending streaks, Jackson Shorten now has won three consecutive races. The Mountain View junior won the Erie Invitational on the tough Lyons course, running 15:58.

Peak to Peak's Allison Beasley continued to make gains - she won the Adams City Varsity Race #3, running 18:48.
