If your mind is still spinning from the weekend - you're not alone. There was a lot to digest... You might need two cups of coffee for this Week in Review.

Among the highlights of the highlights...

We've got to start in Arizona with Cole Sprout.

Wow. Simply, w-o-w. 14:16.01 for the third fastest cross country 5k run by a high schooler ever. While it's safe to assume Sprout wasn't insanely pumped about finishing second at Desert Twilight, you've got to give it up for the Valor Christian senior - he made the race, as he always does. I've written this before and I'll likely will again - winning alone isn't enough for Sprout, and his 14:16 runner-up finish is proof of that. 

And on the note of Desert Twilight...

Samrawit Dishon clearly loves this course, because she ran stellar here once again. The Niwot senior led Colorado on the girl's side of the meet, running 17:08 to finish third in the Sweepstakes race. 

Samantha Blair, Cameron McConnell, and Joslin Blair were just a few strides back, running 17:12, 17:13, and 17:17. 

And how about that team race? 4A No. 1 Niwot girls (minus Lucca Fulkerson) over 5A No. 3 Cherokee Trail, 80 to 97.

And speaking of Niwot...

The 4A No. 2 Niwot boys (minus Cruz Culpepper), finished second in the Sweepstakes race with 161 - two points ahead of 5A No. 2 Fort Collins, who finished third with 163. 4A No. 3 Air Academy finished fourth with 167.

Individually, Colorado had some monster performances as well.

Luke Sundberg flirted with a Sub 15, running 15:07, which was just a few seconds ahead of the Air Academy duo of Matthew Mettler and Matthew Storer, who ran 15:09, and 15:11, and Grahm Tuohy-Gaydos, who ran 15:11 and change.

The girl's Open race was another hotly contested affair, with Valor Christian's Lanie Szuch taking an impressive victory in 17:34, which was just ahead of Niwot's Lucca Fulkerson was the runner-up in 17:40. Of additional note, Szuch and Fulkerson would've finished 10th and 14th in the Sweepstakes race, and Fulkerson would've been Niwot's No. 2 runner.  

Onwards to Minnesota for Roy Griak... 

Riley Stewart and the 5A No. 2 Cherry Creek girls came, saw, and conquered. Stewart was the runaway winer in 17:29, which was just one second off the course record, while Cherry Creek dominated the team race by 90 points. They tallied 75. 

On the boy's side Parker Wolfe was the standout, finishing third in 15:53, while the 3A No. 3 Frontier Academy boys took third in the team race with 341. 

Onwards to Kansas for the Rim Rock XC Classic... 

Will Daley was the big winner here, making sure Kansas knows how Colorado does things. The Denver East senior blitzed the field with an impressive 15:39 victory. 

Back in Colorado... 

Anna Swanson and Sawyer Wilson battled hard at the Polson Ranch Invite with Swanson taking the big W over Wilson, while Mason Norman was the runaway winner in the boy's race. 5A No. 4 Rock Canyon took the boy's title by three points over 5A No. 5 Castle View, while 3A No. 1 The Classical Academy dominated the girl's race.

In Grand Junction there was an intense battle among the best of the Western Slope at the Warrior Lincoln Park Classic, as Grace Johnson picked up her third consecutive victory, running 18:02 over Sierra Bower's 18:15. Michael Dudzic took the boy's title just under 16 minutes. Battle Mountain took both team titles. 

Ella Johns and Cole Nash picked up big wins of their own at the Thornton Invitational, while we saw some fireworks in Boulder Saturday morning at the Pat Patten Invite.  

Jenna Fitzsimmons is back, and the Mountain Vista girls squad look stronger than ever. Sarah O'Sullivan and Fitzsimmons went 1-2, running 18:20, while 5A No. 1 Mountain Vista tallied just 22 points.  

Meanwhile Connor Ohlson dominated the boy's race, running a stellar 15:15. The team race came down to one point, with 5A No. 1 Mountain Vista taking the 43-44 victory over 5A No.3 Dakota Ridge.
